and then enters drood just in time to catch-up and mustard!

Welcome drood
I've bumped into you a few times in roosterbear's journal, looks like i'm about to get to know you quite a bit better.

Weekend ketchup
I had a great birthday weekend. Excellent dinner at Suppenküche with several bottles of Aventinus on Friday night... yum! Saturday was a success, although once again I bought too much stuff. If anyone wants to come over for drinks I have tons of, well everything! I was very happy that knowyermonkey, desidono, skibumca, and sfltrk were able to make it. Once again I didn't get to spend enough time with desidono who came all the way from Washington. This always seems to happen when it's your party, you never get to spend as much time as you would like with all the people you don't see often. I was a little worried that not that many people would show up but the place was packed.

I had many many monkeytinis and had a lot of fun. a few people broke the no gift rule but how could I get mad especially about several very cool Monkey t-shirts from knowyermonkey and skibumca. you can never have too many monkey t-shirts. Somehow I managed to escape getting spanked. I didn't even realize that until today!

I wanted to comment in a friends journal but he has comments tuned off, so on the off chance he might read this... I posting my response here...

"Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond
your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon
you."
- Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864), U.S. writer

Doors to happiness don't open and close. Happiness is inside you if you allow it. Even if you are alone, poor, unhealthy, or old you can be happy. these things don't dictate happiness. A missed opportunity is just that, an opportunity. Each moment you have opportunities to be happy. each moment you can choose to be happy and enjoy what you have and who you are. Nothing can make you happy but yourself.... except really heavy drugs, but they always take something else away don't they. The point is happiness comes from within yourself, just because someone isn't in your life anymore, it doesn't mean you missed your opportunity for happiness, Happiness lives in the present and is always waiting for you.
