todo sobre el padre de mis novio

I am so glad this week is over... Work was Hell this week. I spent the whole week trying to fix hardware problems with the backup library in the freezing cold server room. When I wasn't freezing my fingers off I was trying to manually connect every Mac user to the new color printers that won't print unless I jump through several hoops setting it up for each machine. Then there were all the crazy requests this week. my favorite one was the guy who wanted access to our FTP server so he could back up his data. Um FTP is used to transfer your data, not back it up. But it's all over now... or is it.

Tomorrow I am off to Grass Valley. Tom's family Easter party is always interesting. the drive however is always hell. Three hours in the back seat listening to Tom's dad discuss money on politics. I think Tom's dad is great but I really don't feel comfortable discussing his finances. My family rarely talks about money the way Toms family does, we don't discuss "The Will." I guess money isn't really as important to my family. My dad has always told me, work hard enough to be able to take more vacation than you are supposed to take. I almost always am able to talk my way into some unpaid leave.

Back to the subject of Tom's dad. I feel even less comfortable arguing with him about how his head is up his ass on his skewed political views. I just don't understand how he could live his whole life in San Francisco and be so damn republican. there are times when the comments he makes are so incredible insensitive it amazes me. I've been dating his son who spends every Friday with him for four years, I made him a movie, I've been accepted as part of the family, and yet he tells me how he thinks what Gavin Newsom did, legalizing gay marriage, was wrong. "Why do gay people need to get married anyway?"

Why shouldn't we be allowed to?

The funny thing is I know he really likes me, he thinks I'm the best thing that's ever happened to Tom. He is just set in his ways and in his odd old person thinking. He just doesn't realize that when he is discussing politics with me at me, he is vilifying, dehumanizing and belittling me. I have tried to tell him that I don't want to talk politics with him but I think that is one of his only connections to the world. He just keeps coming back to one of the two subjects I hate most. the best solution is to side track him into telling stories of old or even better stories about when he wrote a letter complaining to a company and got a response back with some sort of compensation. he really is Abe Simpson.

I prefer being aggravated to being bored, but I think I have a bit of the intellectual brawler in me. I'm like the guy who works out too much and likes to get into fights.

Re: Just Asking?
No, of course not! I am honored to be mentioned in your journal. I actually missed that post. I had opened it and had started reading it when my battery died, it was midnight so I just went to sleep. The next day, I didn't remember that I had only got to read the first few sentences. I'm glad you said something and I was able to go back and read it. I'm pretty bad with responding to other people's journals that I am reading. Especially if their posts are so complete or post that really make me think. So often I mean to reply but then get bogged down with work or distracted. I was actually thinking about you this morning way before I got your question. Today my being a sheep did not work out well for me.

I went in for my pre-birthday annual physical over a week ago. I finally went back in today to get the results of my blood work. The Dr. had told me what tests he wanted done, when I was filing out the forms at the place where they actually take the blood I noticed that one of the tests was HEPA. I though "Hepatitis? That doesn't make any sense. Maybe it stands for something."

When I got the results and saw I was non reactive to Hepatitis A... I realized I shouldn't have been a sheep like your post last night and asked before and so I had to redo bloodwork again today. Baaaaa Baaa!
