BORED meeting

I am on a conference call right now and have been bored and silent for over an hour. I love being in meetings that I have no input to give and no need to really be in. I love it. My mind tends to wander and I do lots of other things during the meeting. Here is a random thought from the meetings... It was caused by an argument about DMZ servers.

Do you think cats know they are purring?

Sometimes I think it's like smiling to them. they don't even realize they are doing it. I wonder if we send out signal or sounds that we don't even acknowledge but cats pick up. it seems to me animals like Cats and Dogs know when you are in need of affection and comfort even if you are smiling and putting on a nice little mask. Just a thought.

Heh. I think they don't know that they're purring, actually. Funny thought. : )

It's an interesting thought, but purring is much, much more than smiling, and cats do know they are doing it. Purring is a mode of communication that cats use conciously and subconciously, so it is a little like smiling, but as soon as they start purring, they know they are purring.

I like writing the word purring.

Purring tells other cats and animals that the purrer is in a state where it needs nothing other than for what is happening to continue. Cats purr when being petted or groomed, when being fed, and, most interestingly of all, when they are dying, even if they are in pain.

Cats and dogs pick up our mood signals, especially if they live with us, because our smell and body language change when we are sad or very happy or angry, and that tells them a lot of the story.

I have all this information in my head! Why? I seem to collect it. There must be a reason.

Hugs to Emma Peel and John Steed!
