I still remember the 4th of July Centennial... I remember the neighborhood being decked out in Red, white, and blue. I remember the plastic and cloth flags stapled to wooden dowels and shoved into the green lawns. I remember the parade of children on bikes tricycles and skates with their parents that came by my house. It was more kids than I had ever seen. I was amazed that all the kids were decked out in their patriotic colors and their transportation was decorated with streamers. The parade seemed to go on forever and I wanted to join them but my mom and dad just wanted to watch. Today because it is going to be a historic day, I am wearing my patriotic colors: red white, blue and chocolate. I am praying for a (not completely) black president and not a (anti-woman) Female VP.

This morning on my drive in I was singing an appropriate song by styx. I remember the album so well. It was one of my coolest records it was a three fold album with a beautiful new theatre and then on the other side the same theater worn down and closed. Hopefully tonight will be more like Rocking the Paradise's, "Tonight's the night, we'll make history" than same refrain from "The best of Times"

I have to say I'm very excited and worried. It's so much easier to live in hate and fear than it is to live in love and understanding. So much of America seems to live in Fear and Hate and that seems like such a horrible place to live.THey can't believe it a happy place can they. I guess tonight we will learn about the country we live in. McCain/Palin have campaigned spewing fear while Obama/Biden have focused on Hope and Change. How a country could vote for fear over hope seems crazy to me.

Of course the Hate vs. Understanding will be determined by Prop 8. If 8 passes it will take a lot not to let them win and drag me into their hateful place. It will take a lot for me to not go out of my way to hate them right back... But seriously, if I send little cards illustrating how wonderful love between two men and two women can be to random mormons, would you consider it hateful? Maybe with a message, "Are you just mad you can't have multiple wives?"

You watch it. My Aunt and Uncle recorded those Albums... I had every album by Styx and the Carpenters. My record collection when I was 5 was most high school student's wet dream.

Opps I meant Bicentennial. I don't think they had plastic flags in 1876.
