Criminal minds

I’ve been meaning to write about this for quite some time. I almost seems like a waste to write about it now. So much of the details have slipped from my Swiss cheese brain. Many moons ago I went down to LA and was able to hang out with kirstensimone who never updates her blog because she is too busy now with her career on Criminal Minds. The Season Premier is this Wednesday and for a change it isn’t up against Lost... It’s up against the season Premier of ANTM (America’s Next Top Model) So if you are not a ANTM fan please check out Criminal Minds Wednesday, September 20, 9PM ET/PT on CBS.

Kirsten plays Penelope Garcia the busty techie sex kitten who plays online games It was very strange to tour the set after watching it on TV all last season. It seemed like a real place on TV but if you were too look up you would see the vaulted aluminum ceilings 30 feet above the top of the ceiling of the sets. When we arrived there was someone parked in Kirsten’s spot. It turned out late it was her friend who is one of the editors on the show. We parked in a no parking zone and when we got out a Security guard started to walk over to us. I was expecting him to tell us we couldn’t park where we had, but instead a big smile spread across his face and he said “Kirsten, I didn’t think you were working today! It’s good to see you!” He shook our hands we chatted with the guard a bit and then headed in but bumped into the Wardrobe person as well as some of the production people outside. They let us know everyone was on break for lunch and we should join them, this is after I shook all their hands. But Kirsten and I had just had lunch at the grove with Tom Lenk ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0501937/) and even though I have met him many times I still have to try very hard to keep my cool and not gush to him about how much I loved him on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It freaks me out that he knows my name and Kirsten always tell him stories about me.

When we went in and I looked around to see everyone eating at two long tables. Actually most had just finished eating and they were now just talking. Everyone turned to look at us, I felt like I was on stage with all these eyes on me. Then I heard my name. and my friend Gina popped up from one of the tables. I was shocked to see her. I knew she was a casting director and she did work for the show, but I always imagined the she didn’t work on set. Kirsten and I went over and and I got a hug from Gina and then the introductions began. And the handshakes, dear god these people love the handshakes. There was one cute scruffy boy who nearly knocked over the girl next to him to shake my hand. This was when I began to think this is a pretty creepy industry where so much is placed on a handshake! Can’t I get away with a little wave hello? Nope, 20 or 30 handshakes and introductions later I was able to sit. I was so busy with the introductions before I wasn’t able to concentrate enough to see if anyone else in the room looked familiar. Now I was trying to take it in. I was sitting next to Matthew Gubler (Spencer Reid) but I didn’t see Mandy Patinkin or Shemar Moore. It wasn’t until several minutes later that I realized Lola Glaudini (Elle Greenaway) was sitting next to Matthew. She looks very different on TV or maybe it’s because it’s been half a year and she changed her hair... Not sure.

Kirsten wanted me to meet A.J. (Jennifer”JJ” Jareau) who she loves, so we went to her trailer to chat with her... More handshakes. I don’t know why but I always thought they would be the ones who didn’t get along on the show. Both women have less screen time than Lola and are blond... I just thought it would be like ”Soapdish” and Montana Moorhead fighting for screen time. But they hang out together and should be a comedy duo.

While walking back in to see the sets Mandy jogged by, Kirsten just motioned for me to take note. I was thankful she didn’t call him over to meet me. He was a giant ball of sweat and I know there would have been a handshake. When we went inside there was no one on the main set. They were all on another set so I was able to poke around the the “Quantico” Base and on the Jet. While we were walking around It felt to me like we were trespassing and would be caught at any moment. I jumped when one of the Grips came in carrying a big piece of wood, but of course he came over to say hello to Kirsten and of course, he put down his lumber to shake my hand.

A few photos of me on the set with Kirsten

Wouldn't it have been cool if a producer of the show thought you could fit in a story line somewhere. Like the person called Monkey who she chats online to when she's trying to figure a problem out? A problem so involved they had to bring in Monkey to help work the case?

:-)

Nice photos. Looks like it was a lot of fun.
