Once a month I get together with Phillip (southernpm), Rice (grubbybastard), Cricket (3appleshigh), and Allen (salacious_pop) for boys night. Last night was the December boys night and for the third month in a row I was unable to make it. But last night while the boys (minus a miserably sick Allen) went out and had their fun, I had my own boys night down here in LA. After work I meet up with my best friend since kindergarten phinny and Lanny (traylordean). We went to the Old spaghetti factory and had a good amount of wine. It reminded me of my days when I would go to Old Spag in college for lunch and go to my class "political science in mass media" to sober up! After our leisurely dinner and drinks we headed to the theater of note to meet up with Kirsten, who had been in Mulhuland Christmas.

We arrived as things were beginning to break up and people drift off to their homes or the next local. Kirsten gave me a wink, “Come ‘ere I have someone I want you to meet.” She turned away from me and said to her friend, “Tom this is my friend Eric!” I shook his had and took in his new look. His hair was longer and darker than it has ever been when I have watched him on TV. I managed to keep my cool and not mention Buffy the Vampire Slayer once during the evening. I tried to act as if Tom Lenk was just another one of Kirsten’s friends... which he is I guess. I am very glad to say that he is a really nice and normal guy. It’s easy to see how some of his personality came through his character as Andrew. Although he is not at all the confused dork that his character was, he is just as charming. I really enjoyed getting to sit in a restaurant, sip my tea and have a conversation with everyone at the table. Tom’s friend Julio (pronounced Julie-o) was was gorgeous with his olive skin, stubble, deep dark eyes and bright smile that squished his eyes.

So this boys night was a bit different, no scantly clad gay men, and sadly no sexy DJ’s that lick armpits. But it was full of good conversation like usual and had the added twist of a celebrity and as well as a girl at my alternative boys night.

That's the only thing I miss about Los Angeles;
hobnobbing with celebs. I was born in Los Angeles, and I grew up, and came out, and party party partied in and around Hollywood and have had many a good time with the movie, television, and music crowd.

I'm also envious. He's one of my favorite personalities as well.

Due to technical pains in the ass, I haven't been able to follow your journal recently (or ever). Very interesting slice-of-life, though. :)

So does this mean Kirsten is honourarily one of the guys?

It's good that you've found ways to be with your friends and enjoy yourself despite all the instability and change in your life lately. Friends and social outlets are so important. I'm sure Rice, Cricket et al. missed you, but I'm also sure you'll catch up with them soon.

I know you'd hoped to meet Tom Lenk on a previous visit. Very cool that you got to spend time with him this time, and it's great that you did just treat him like a friend of Kirsten's, since that's who he was that night at least.

Overall, sounds like a cool evening!
