This weekend has been interesting. It's been different and I've been very emotional. It must be Man-Oh-Pause. I was in a foul mood today, probably from the lack of sleep. I managed to make it into the new de Young museum... I snuck in thought the Tower! So many people were there, I heard people were still in line, nowhere near the entrance at 3 AM. It was quite a scene.

My fortune cookie today stated, "Isolating yourself from others will not prevent you from being hurt." It freaked me out. There has been a lot on my mind. I've felt overwhelmed for quite some time. There just seems like there is so much going on, I've been a huge flake. I've been terrible about returning phone calls, emails, you name it. I need to get my act together. I need to find my rhythm again. Either that or i need to find a witch to bind me.

Tonight I thought my apartment was SO HOT. I was sweating. So I went and asked my room mate if she thought it was hot. She said no and I said I must be going through menopause and having hot flashes. Then she said it's manopause. How crazy.

Yeah, but that binding spell didn't work until the end of the movie....

Funny. Saturday evening Claudia asked Allan and I if men went through menopause.

We we like Yep! MEN o pause!

Must have been every man's time of the month. Do you think we are all on the same cycle?

Well, I couldn't sleep last night and I was in a foul mood yesterday evening, which I took out on someone, who also growled... hmmm...

There are male hormonal cycles, and there are points in our lives when we have lows in all the cycles: we don't really have MANopause, but we do have some grrrr days.

Are we all on the same cycle? Maybe we all spend so much time on LJ that we've synchronized!

"Maybe we all spend so much time on LJ that we've synchronized!"

That is too funny. Could be true. :-)

All all swollen and achy, and forgetful today. Must be my time.

You don't need a binding spell, just some space to breathe and regenerate your energies. Binding spells, if you believe in them, are very limiting: this year, difficult as it is for you emotionally, is about growth.

Your fortune cookie was very interesting, and I hope you hang onto that prediction for someone else in your life to see.

Phone calls, e-mails... returning them is for when you can, and shouldn't be a must unless it's for work. If you have the time to contact a friend, contact them. If they get pissy about not hearing back from you sooner, then they need to get their priorities straight. I believe you put some obligations on yourself that are too heavy and strict: you demand from yourself a dedication to your friends that is beautiful but must be exhausting.

How about this: write a form reply "Sorry, I'm really busy right now, and I can't get back to you in detail, but I will. All the best, Eric", and send it to all the people who've gotten in touch but you haven't had time to get back to. You'll find a day to get back to them all when you've had a little balance- and you-time.

This year has been an extremely emotional one for you, with a lot going on, and last year also had it's share of emotions. You're not a flake, but you do need to get your rhythm back. Stop worrying about others and their emotions, and focus on you. Treat yourself to some time alone, with no e-mail or telephone distractions. Write. Read. Listen to Transcendental's "Steam".

I repeat, you're not a flake.

Hope the foul mood is gone, the sleep and dreams were sweet, and the head is better today.

Alternatively, you could write to all those people with this message:

WOULD YOU EVER GO AND DO SOME WORK AND STOP GOOFING OFF AND WRITING E-MAILS TO ME AND COMMENTING IN MY JOURNAL BECAUSE IT'S LIKE BEING THE ONLY KID WHO HAS TO STUDY WHILE ALL HIS BUDDIES ARE OUTSIDE PLAYING!!! GET A LIFE AND A JOB, DARNIT!!!
