Don't mess with Texas- Accident Number 2

As I was sitting reading outherelistenin's journal and watching Enterprise I heard the familiar screech followed by a dull crash. The thing that makes this accident a little different is it turned into a hit and run. When I looked out the window I could see a truck and a SUV... pointing in the wrong direction. Then the SUV backed up and started to drive away back up market street. My second thought after "Hit and Run" was, "the SUV was driving on the wrong side of the street." Another SUV who happened to be driving up (the accident was on the downside) continued up the street, I could only hope that they could tell the car was fleeing an accident.

Another call to the police and then I decided to go down and talk to the people in the truck. The truck from Texas. We all know not to mess with Texas. When I got there, the Texan couple was fine, and the 2nd SUV had followed the runners up a few blocks and got the license. It seems the bad SUV tried to make a U-turn across two lanes from a parking spot. that's why they were facing the wrong direction. The couple seemed very upbeat and surprised how many people came out to check on them and help out.

Accident watch 2004 continues!

Thank you! I think I have way too much fun with the icons. I wish I could have more... 50 just isn't enough!

I declare War on Traffic Casualties. Surveillance equipment in every SUV! Mandatory background checks for SUV drivers! Strict border controls on SUV imports. Yellow Alert, people. YELLOW ALERT!

You are too funny. I love it. I question what the background checks would be though. Would aggressive rich skinny blond girls still be able to drive them?

Creation of a New Negative Stereotype.
I hate SUVs. But I really hate the people who own and drive them. I can think of now better symbol of American piggishness. In my own little Honda Civic, I can never see around them. When I nose out so I can see the oncoming traffic I did not see before freaks out and "glowers at me dubiously ready to attack." You can really notice SUV stupidity in the Snow. These people believe that they have the vehicle that can handle it and cruise through the ice and snow at undiminished speed. People like me who go no faster than desired collision speed drive them crazy.

I kind of had you in mind when I let that slip. It just fit too well. I'm struck how we are in very similar places though I happen to be employed and not economically challenged at the moment. I have been in total escape mode. Everquest or Ever-Crack has been the preferred modality. My cousin induced me to start a couple of characters on his server, Eci. I have had very uncharacteristic luck finding people to play with on this server. This deepens my involvement in the game considerably.

I actually have a date tonight though. This is a good thing and grounds for some hope that my life as an On-line hermit will end.

Re: Creation of a New Negative Stereotype.
I have to say that I agree with you almost completely. I hate SUVs. They use up more resources than they should, they pollute more. SUVs are just wasteful all around, they even take up more parking space. Everyday I am reminded how awful these cars are when I try to pull the mini Tom and I share out of the garage. Our garage does not really face the street it's at an 80 degree angle so getting out and seeing the speeding traffic is difficult. It's even more difficult when our downstairs neighbor parks her SUV in front of her driveway (because it won't fit in the garage... She bought it after she moved in) blocking our view of oncoming traffic even more.

Here's where I get to my but... I would not go so far as to say I hate all SUV owners. I think almost all of them are a bit self centered but there are some who really do need the a SUV-like vehicle...People who need 4 wheel drive because of where they live or people who need to transport ... I don't know crazy stuff. I know probably less than one percent of SUV owners really need to have a SUV. It would be great if you needed to get a special license to buy a SUV.

I'm totally stereotyping, but I can't help it... We've lived here for 4 years and Californians drive like crap!! It's a huge 'me me me' mentality and lord help us ALL when it rains. O my goodness!

I think you mean people in San Francisco... people in LA are much better drivers but they are also a bit more aggressive... and believe it or not they drive even worse in the rain.
