Glass Coffin

Went out drinking with Lanny last night. It was really fun we started out at the Glass Coffin. The bar is really called Twin Peaks but since it's an older gentleman's bar with tons of glass window, it got a few nicknames. Another popular name is "A tomb with a view." I had never gone to the Coffin before but I really enjoyed it. Lanny and I sat at the end of the bar watching people walk by and the fab little old lady waitress while drinking our perfectly mixed drinks and talking. After two drinks we walked down to Moby's and talked with Michael B who has moved into Oscar's room at my old house. I'm so glad he has moved back into markethouse, Kim needs someone else to be responsible in that house. He and few other friends are leaving for Brazil in two weeks. So while he'll be in South America, I'll be in Europe, and America will be at war... hmmm pessimism show it's ugly butt.

There are so many nicknames for most of the bars. It's really strange how each one is like a little gay universe where all the people are the similar.

Badlands-> Badgirls -> Sadgirls
the Cafe-> the Lesbian Airport Lounge

A freind of mine who is a bartender at Moby's calls it the best kept secret of the castro. He likes to go upstairs and drink by the little window above that is near hot cookie. He says, "It's quite relaxing to watch people from above... sort of outside of everything." I think the best kept secret is there is no wait for sunday brunch at Tin Pan, and they have yummy waffles with carmel sauce. I really don't like waiting to eat. If I'm hungry, I want to at least know food is on the way.

this is a restaurant town--there are hundreds of good restaurants. no good reason to have to wait for a good meal ... particularly when you can call ahead with as little as fifteen minutes notice and reserve a table.
