Are you thinking of me when you...

I remember when I first heard Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know", I couldn't wait to go buy it. But I worked at a record store and found out later that day the CD wasn't going to be out for another couple of weeks. It's such a great song that I bout it as soon as it came out. The lyrics so perfectly paint the wastelands of emotion, I used to think, "Ouch man, the guy who this song is about, must be scared." I loved it when I found out the man who pissed off Alanis so much was Dave Coulier, Joey from Full House. Eventually I became tired of Alanis' angst and retired her music from my playlists and mind.

One of the benefits of working for the doomed mega-giant Fuckedcompany.com frontrunner marchFIRST (I hated the name from the instant i heard it) was the fact that i worked closely with many talented people who didn't belong working in the corporate atmosphere but were cashing in. I worked with famous graffiti-artist Jase , amazing jewelry designer Kris Nations and more bands than I could possibly ever remember. I hear from some coworkers frequently while others I will hear about from coworkers I still work with. I receive regular emails from my Nicole, she was always a rock star, even before I knew she was in a band. I've been totally obsessed with her band ZONK's remake of "You Oughta Know". I am the first to admit that my love of remakes is unhealthy but their cover is so much better than Alanis' original version.

Give it a listen, there is free download here: http://www.zonkaholics.com/merch/index.html

Enjoy the wasteland.
