Anyone hiring Mac Tech Support in SF?

I've had it with this company. I've been here for 6 years. I've been through over 20 rounds of layoffs, I've even been let go twice (but I was brought back each time before my last day). I've bled for this company, cried for the company, and helped it through eight mergers. I've been saying lately if they merge one more time I was going to quit. But that isn't what they have done that has made me want to quit.

I have lost my faith in the company. They have proven their disregard and complete lack of appreciation for their employees. There was a team that worked 10-12 hour days 5-6 days a week for for three months. Of course all these employees are salary so they didn't get any overtime. The company promised them bonuses, lunches, dinners, but the company never came through on the meals. They kept pushing back the bonuses. They promised the bonuses would be given to those hard working employees yesterday. Today they are laying off one of the people who put in so much work on the project because she doesn't fit into the new "Boys Network" that has come into power. They say they are letting her go because of reorganization. But in most reorganizations wouldn't they try to move an employee of seven plus years to a new position, especially when the company is under-manned and the employee is a twice publish writer on the subject of company's business? Doesn't it sound more likely that they wanted to get rid of her because she was a woman who wouldn't kiss ass and called bullshit what it was? This company doesn't give a rats ass about it's employees. My bet is they give the team their bonuses next week, with one less bonus to give. She did the work, put in the time, but if they aren't planning on keeping her, why pay her for her work. This company's morals are hitting new lows.

I know I should make this entry friends only, but I'm not. I'm too pissed. Right now I want them to fire me. I want to finally get that kick in the ass. Time to update my resume

I'm using my rage icon to often as of late. It’s not often I allow myself to get angry, but lately I feel it’s has been a healthy response to the stresses around me.

Standard advice: don't quit until you've got another job offer in hand that you're prepared to accept.

Eh, I quit a place (similar to the place he describes) after working there for 6 years. I saved up money so that I wouldn't have to find another job immediately. Now I am focusing on school and couldn't be happier - jobless.

One hand doesn't wash the other anymore.
He's right. Get the other job lined up first. Then walk out.

Businesses do not respect their employees like before. Then, if you worked hard your were acknowledged and rewarded for your dedication and hard work. Now. The more you give, the more they take.

But clam down and plan this out.

Reminds me of my last job. Huge project that had the potential to save the company millions per year, and certain people were working like dogs. Fortunately I managed to not be one of them, but a friend of mine (who wasn't in the best health) was. You'd think we would have had a nice dinner or something to celebrate the project's completion, but nope: we had punch and cake. The cake was cheap and made of frosting that tasted like ink and stained everyone's hands. A couple months later, my friend went home Friday evening feeling lousy after a long week of work. He died Monday morning in his bed. We never found out the cause, but I think it was extreme stress, overwork, and the fact that he smoked and had a poor diet. He was only 37.

Now that I've actually seen a job suck the life out of someone, I'm looking more closely for the early warning signs.

I worked for a company once that promised a bunch of shit it never delivered on. They went bankrupt.

*hugs* I'm really sorry to hear that.

But hey, you are allowed to get anrgy. It's a much better thing to get angry and yell a litle than hold it all in - trust me, Rant and rave a lot, then collapse in Tom's arms and laugh at how silly you got when you started making things up to keep on ranting and raving about :-)

And hey, the Kettering YMCA wants you. I saw a big lit sign shouting "MONKEY!" as I sat at the traffic lght at Marshall and David tonight :-)
