Pepto Abysmal

The weather in San Francisco has been horrible since I got back from Portland and I find a little consolation in that fact. I hit the post button in Xjournal on Friday before I ran out to the office. I was looking forward to a fun weekend starting with a celebration for my friend Michelle who just got a 13% raise! Before we got to dinner my nose started to run and I thought to myself, "damn, I'm going to have to take some allergy medicine when I get home." Within a few hours I knew it wasn't an allergy. My head was pounding and my body ached. I wanted to go home and spent a good portion of the evening laying on the hallway floor at Barbara's house with her sweet cocker spaniel. That night I tossed and turned.

Saturday Tom treated me the way every sick child is treated by a caring mother. He made me chicken soup, forced me to drink an insane amount of cranberry juice. While I watched TV on the couch or in bed. The most activity I did all weekend was when I finished playing Fable with my character striving to be good.

Today I feel even worse. I have a slight fever. I spent the day watching an insane amount of reality TV. I am completely caught up on Project Runway. I watched my first episodes last night and had a bizarre dream I was thrown into the position of being a designer on the show.

I haven't felt this horrible in years! It has probably been two or three years since I was actually sick enough to miss a day of work. I took sick days but they were mental health days.

I cold have picked this evil nasty bug from many places. I was surrounded by sick children on the flight up to Portland. Everyone in the Portland office was sick, sisyphus238 was just coming out of his battle with the bug. My flight back was hellish, I arrive at the airport at 5pm but didn't get home until 10:30, did I mention I was sitting again with more sick kids, this time they were at the dangerous 13 year old snotty boys who were at the stage of impressing each other by behaving badly. I thanked the gods that I wasn't sitting in front of them during their tray slamming contests.

I sat listening to my iPod and reading my fabulously pink copy of "Beaner O'Brian's Absolutely Ginormous Guidebook to Guys"

The kid sitting right across the aisle from me kept staring at me and then whispering to his friends and laughing. I'm sure it had nothing to do with being a faggot reading a pink book for teen girls!

I started reading this and thought "Oh shit, I gave him something" but then realized that what I had was nothing like what you described. I just had a cold; sounds like you got the flu, not surprising what with the flight and all. There's nothing like recycled air. I hope you're feeling better though. Being sick sucks.

I'm guessing the worst is over:

, such words don't come when one is feeling miserable. At least I don't think they do.

I've been sick, too. At least you're staying out of the rain.

Get better soon!

Wouldn't you know it? The weather forecast for this area for the upcoming week is for sunny skies and relatively warm temps (mostly in the 50s & 60s). They even pushed it as far as next Monday but I get suspicious beyond 4 days. I think they try to psych us out. Of course, along with our weather we get reports of yours. WTF? How long was the drought down there? We're already getting wildfires and it isn't even March yet and I hear how you get a month's rain in a day.

I'm sorry about being sick - it's no fun at all.

Jay and Kelly seem to be passing a cold back and forth arund here, so I'm kind of taking care of them in rotation. So . . . .

I wish I had a mom like that! My mom gave me thick bloody steak and rice when I got sick. I can't get better without thick bloody steak now. Chicken soup is a much better way to go.

Get well soon! Don't get dehydrated, and keep your vitamin levels up. Keep in a steady temperature.

You've got to be healthy for your big trip!
