It's the journey not the destination.

Monday night I was still recovering from a night of excess spent with Malakai and Michael at the Metro. I am trying to get Michael to get a livejournal since he will soon be moving to Rome. He wants to keep in touch with everyone and share his life, I think I have him convinced that a blog is the best way to do that. While I was typing up some info on LiveJournal for him My phone started to vibrate across the table. When I saw the name on the display I got really excited! “JANNIE.”

Jannie and I go way back and have been through a lot of stuff. When I first met her she was dating a friend of mine, eventually our friendship would grow past the one I had with her boyfriend. It wouldn’t be long before I was hanging out with her more than him. We even started our own separate group of friends. We went on mini vacations together. Once we drove with our friends Brent and Jimmy Utah only to spend one night once we arrived. The whole trip was the destination. We stopped in Kelso California a ghost town from the 80s and wandered into abandoned houses that still had furniture in them. Schools that still had artwork with children’s names on them up on the walls. In Utah we drank boonze farm in stairwells of buildings. We would stop in random places along the 15 highway and have a cigarette. When we got to Vegas the second time we had been awake for some insane amount of time. I felt like I was on serous drugs. Sleep deprivation can be fun! The whole trip I was snapping away with my ghetto Fuji camera which seemed to get broken every few months. It was one of the most fun things I have ever done because I was exploring and being spontaneous with people I genuinely cared about.

I was very excited to get a phone call from Jannie, I don’t talk to her enough. It’s hard to figure out how we drifted so far apart. I think it was her Ex-husbands fault. I definitely distanced myself from him and sadly let myself be distanced from Jannie as well. After they separated Jannie slowly has been coming back into my life and that makes me really happy. On the phone call she mentioned that her band has some new songs she wanted me to hear that were on her myspace.com. I still have yet to figure out if I need another online site, but her myspace site is really cool. But as I was listening to her song “I’m in love with a Photographer” I saw something that made my heart slam hard in hopeful anticipation. There was a link that said LiveJournal! And so I would like to welcome to my journal (wearehisandhers) my lovely friend Jannie and her bandmate boyfriend Mike, who is the cat’s purr! YAY!

A Live Journal is a great way to keep in touch with home. I remember my pre-blogging days - I was losing touch with so many people. Tell Michael that from someone who's been doing the ex-pat for ten years.

Janine sounds great, and I'm glad you have found each other again.

A journal post all about me!!!! yeah!!!!
Oh Eric,

I love you so-you have no idea:) I figured that we became close during one breakup-so why not another right? I mean you were my maid of honor for christ's sake...ha ha It's funny you mention the kelso trip, I was just talking about it the other day and still come across "mall photo shoot" pictures every once in awhile. I have had some of my best memories with you and I can't wait to come up to visit (soon I hope!) Maybe we can have another sleep deprived adventure? Love you, love you, love you!

<3 Jannie

Old and new.
It's wonderful when old friends become new friends again.
